NOT only is Thirroul the reigning Illawarra Carlton League premier but it is rallying members for its newly formed Butchers Old Boys' Club, which already has about 100 members.

The old boys' club is having an annual meeting at Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club from midday on Sunday, to be followed at 1.30pm with a barbecue.

"The idea of the club is to raise money through membership and functions to assist old members - like Men of League - as well as the senior and junior clubs and other charities," Thirroul's 1995 premiership-winning captain-coach Mark Taylor said yesterday.

"The Butchers now have a 95-year history and we are hoping to build a strong old boys' club leading up to our 100-year anniversary in 2013.

" A team of the century will be named that year."

The Butchers Old Boys' club is also attending the ARL Masters (http://www.arlmasters.com.au/) on the Gold Coast next year.
